An Opening for a Full-time Lecturer or Assistant Professor in the Department of Contemporary English
The Department of Contemporary English, Ibaraki Christian University, is pleased to announce the opening of the position described below. Please kindly notify candidates interested in this position.
1. Position and Number of Openings:
One full-time contract lecturer or assistant professor
2. Commencement of Employment: April 1, 2025
3. Conditions of Employment: Contract lecturer or assistant professor under the conditions regulated in the “Rules of Employment at Ibaraki Christian University” for a Type III full-time instructor. This is a one-year contract and is renewable up to a total of five years. According to the criteria which will be shown at the point of signing the contract, this is a tenure-track position, and the successful applicant may apply for tenure after two years if employed as a contract lecturer or after three years if employed as an assistant professor.

5. Planned Classes to be Taught
【Undergraduate classes】
I・II・III・IV, English Communication I・II, Eigo CommunicationI・II (General English classes) Interactive StudiesI・II, Practice in Transmitting Japanese Culture, Area Studies (English-speaking Societies), Contemporary English Seminar
*In addition to the above, for extra remuneration, the successful candidate will also be expected to teach an off-campus English classes and English conversation classes at a company.
6. Salary: 3,200,000~7,600,000 yen annually including bonuses dependent on job title. Separate funding for research, transportation fees, etc.
7. Qualifications:
(1) M.A. or a person who will obtain the qualification before March 31, 2025
(2) Teaching experience at a university-level institution preferred regarding the
related subjects above
(3) Ability to conduct classes and administrative jobs in English and Japanese
(4) Experience of living or studying in English-speaking countries
(5) An understanding of Christian values
(6) Will reside in Ibaraki Prefecture
8. Required Documents:
(1) One copy of a curriculum vitae with a photograph (Form 1)
(2) One copy of the Educational Experience and Publication List (Form 2)
(3) Copies of major publications(up to three articles, off-prints and copies are
acceptable)
(4) One copy of a master’s degree or official document stating the expected degree
(5) One copy of a certificate indicating English or Japanese proficiency (if any)
(6) A letter outlining the applicant’s education and research plan regarding this
position (500 words in English or 1200 letters in Japanese)
