Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    Outline
    The University of Fukui is seeking an English language instructor who will work under the direction of the Language Center (LC).
    Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
    (a) to teach the English curriculum required of all students within their common education (general education) coursework, as well as the English curriculum specifically for students in the School of Medical Sciences;
    (b) to support exchange activities between international students and Japanese students within the local community
    (c) to plan, manage, and implement short-term study-abroad programs
    (d) to perform duties related to entrance examinations
    (e) to conduct research activities related to the field of expertise
    (f) to complete other duties related to the operation of Language Center

    Ph.D. / Doctor / Master

    A master’s degree or doctoral degree in one of the following areas: TEFL, TESOL, SLA, English Language Education, Applied Linguistics, or English/American Literatur

  • Description

    A qualified candidate is expected to have the following:
    (a) a master’s degree or doctoral degree in one of the following areas: TEFL, TESOL, SLA, English Language
    Education, Applied Linguistics, or English/American Literature;
    (b) experience of teaching English language to Japanese students at university, junior college, high school,
    etc.;
    (c) experience of teaching integrated skills in communicative classes;
    (d) experience of developing teaching materials;
    (e) a strong willingness to work as a member of a collaborative teaching team which gives equal consideration
    to diverse points of view;
    (f) a current or after-contract residence in Fukui-shi, Fukui, JAPAN or one of its neighboring cities and towns
    N.B.) Bilingual ability in Japanese and English will be regarded as a plus.

    Applicants who pass the first-stage screening will be invited to the University of Fukui for an interview. The
    interview includes mock lessons. All travel-related expenses incurred when coming for the interview shall
    be paid by the applicant.
