The Structure-Controlled Functional Materials Research Laboratory (at the Institute for Materials Research) is hiring an assistant professor. They are seeking researchers in the field of battery research and development who are dedicated to both fundamental and applied research. The main research topic involves developing novel electrode materials by utilizing various phase transitions in alloys, oxides, and other materials, to control structures and realize new physical properties.
Applicants should be highly enthusiastic about engaging in experimental analyses, and using tools such as electron microscopy, synchrotron radiation, and Raman spectroscopy. An understanding of computational approaches such as molecular dynamics simulations and first-principles calculations is also important for this role.
