Specially Appointed Assistant Professor – The Theory of Solid State Physics Research Laboratory

The Theory of Solid State Physics Research Laboratory at Tohoku University is seeking a specially appointed assistant professor. The laboratory is part of the Institute for Materials Research.
The position involves a collaboration with Professor Yusuke Nomura to promote the research topic “Fundamental Theory and Design of Asymmetric Quantum Matters.” This topic is part of the “Visualization, Design, and Creation of Quantum Materials Colored by Asymmetry” research area (representative: Takahiro Onimaru, Hiroshima University). Successful candidates will be expected to develop a fundamental theory of asymmetric quantum matters and research materials design based on computational materials science.

A doctoral degree (Ph.D.) by the time of appointment, and expertise in one of the following areas:

– First-principles calculations
– Materials design
– Methods of data science
